5th DPPN Meeting (14,-15.11.2017) at Helmholtz-Zentrum Munich
On 14 and 15 November 2017 the 5th DPPN meeting took place at the Helmholtz Centre Munich. The first day was dedicated to application examples: scientific projects were presented that were carried out by external users on facilities and technologies developed or improved within the framework of DPPN. These projects contribute to excellent science in the field of plant phenotyping and also contribute to the scientific validation of DPPN facilities and technologies. The focus of the second day was on the regular reporting on the progress of the work packages that have not yet been completed. At present, more than 20 of the 54 work packages could be finshed, 20 more are about to be finalized and only the remaining work packages will have to be completed by the end of the project (assembly of large-scale plants and technical validation).

The 6th meeting of the DPPN Project Board and the 4th meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board also took place within the framework of the joint meeting. As usual, the representatives of these committees gained an overview of the current status of the DPPN project and for the first time received an impression of the already extensive external use of the facilities and technologies. In this context, both gave recommendations towards the completion of the project at the end of 2018, but also for the sustainable continuation of the project and the resulting initiatives beyond the project's lifetime. The DPPN project will be continued within the framework of a DPPN e. V. (registered association). The foundation of DPPN e. V. will take place already during the project phase.

DPPN-Workshop „Plant Phenotyping“ took place at the Botaniker Conference 2017 in Kiel from 21.09.2017

During the „Botanikertagung“ in Kiel (the biggest Geman Conference for Plant Sciences with  more than 450 parrticipants) DPPN  took the opportunity to present and introduce Plant-Phenotyping and Plant Phenotyping Scieces as a research field to the Plant Science Community by organizing a Plant-Phenotyping Workshop on 19.09.2017. After a general overview on the current national and international plant-phenotyping activities in Germany highlights of current plant phenotyping methods and facilities had been presented. Besides DPPN also of other relevant research institutions, in particular „Julius-Kühn-Institute“ and „Hochschule Osnabrück“ presented current technologies.
